Preparing Your Outdoor Space for Fall

Fall is the perfect season to spend time outdoors. The changing tree colors are beautiful, and the crisp fall breeze is wonderful. Why not entertain during this season? Here are some tips you can use to prepare your outdoor space for entertaining, and for the upcoming winter season.
First, it is important to clean your outdoor space. For example, if you have a wood deck, clean it thoroughly with soap and water. You will need to re-seal the deck if the wood is absorbing water. For brick patios, refill the joint sand. Ensure that heavy objects are not on the brick for long periods of time as the weight will cause the brick to sink.
Second, make sure your grill is clean. Maintaining a clean grill will lengthen its life, and will be nicer to cook on. Always cover your grill to protect it from the elements. Whether it is a charcoal or gas grill, make sure to carefully remove all parts for cleaning. Wash parts with soap and water.
If you own a fire pit, ensure it is safe for use. For example, if you have a ground fire pit, a drain below it will ensure rainwater does not collect. Raised fire pits should be cleaned thoroughly. A cover will help protect the fire pit from the elements. Make sure to burn wood such as oak or cedar. Burning pressure-treated wood may contain harmful toxins.
Now that your space is cleaned and prepared, it is time to enjoy! Maybe carve some pumpkins, and decorate for fall. Make s`mores around the fire, enjoy burgers from the grill, and have fun with friends and family.
